Two people have now died because of a head-on crash this afternoon in Darfield, north of Kamloops.
RCMP Traffic Services Cpl. Mike Halskov says the crash was reported just after noon, which involved a semi-truck and another vehicle.
One person was reported dead when the crash happened, and a second person had reportedly died from injuries about 20 minutes later.
As of 4:15 p.m., the Yellowhead Highway is back open after being closed for four hours because of the crash, between Little Fort and Barriere.
Halskov says further information into police is limited at this point. A snowfall warning is in place in the North Thompson, affecting the area where the crash happened, and highway cameras show compact snow and limited visibility in that area.
This is the second fatal highway crash in B.C. since last night.
A man in his 70s was also killed in a crash on the Trans-Canada Highway in Salmon Arm, east of the city centre. That happened at about 8:30 last night and involved two semi trucks and a third vehicle.
Further information on the victims in this afternoon’s crash in Darfield is not yet known. NL News is awaiting details from the BC Coroners Service.
