Police say speed was a factor in a head-on crash north of Kamloops yesterday that killed two people.
The crash happened on the Yellowhead Highway in Darfield just after noon, between a semi truck and a small SUV.
Corporal Mike Halskov with RCMP Traffic Services says there was compact snow and ice on the highway when the crash happened, and says the SUV was driving too fast for the conditions.
“I can confirm that two men, both in their late-30s from the Central Interior, have died as a result of this collision. Both men were occupants of the car which collided with the transport truck. The driver of the transport truck was treated at the scene for minor injuries.”
There was also a snowfall warning for the North Thompson at the time of the crash.
