A truck driver was seriously injured in Quesnel when his own transport truck ran him over on Wednesday afternoon.
Police say the driver was trying to get his disabled truck off Highway 97 when the incident happened around 1:30 p.m.
“Quesnel RCMP were responding to a complaint of a jack knifed transport truck on Highway 97 by Marguerite Ferry Road,” said Sgt. Richard Weseen. “While enroute, a second report was received that the driver of the transport truck was accidentally run over by wheels of the trailer.”
Police say another driver was helping to move the disabled truck while being directed by the man who was injured.
“The man lost his footing and was run over by the trailer tires,” Weseen said. “The man was transported to Williams Lake by ground ambulance and was then airlifted to Vancouver with serious but non life threatening injuries.”
WorkSafe BC is investigating, and police won’t release the name of the driver at this time.
