If you’d like to give your two cents worth on how the City of Kamloops is spending your tax dollars, you’ll have that opportunity Thursday night.
The Public Budget Meeting is at the Sandman Centre from 7:00 until 9:00 PM.
City councilor Sadie Hunter was on the NL Morning News, and said they’ve got a full slate of things to discuss. “There’s eleven items on the list. Ten of them are generated from projects that have been kind of on the back burner, just kind of waiting for this budget cycle and one of them is a community request.”
“So, this would be an opportunity for people to come out and learn more about those supplemental budget items and to also join the conversation and let us know what they think.”
“This won’t be set for a while, so next Tuesday we’ll be discussing some of these items in more detail at council but we need to decide which one we’re going to move ahead with and add to the tax rate and which ones we’re not.”
The councilor admitted there’s a lot to take in. “It is a longer list but if we were to approve everything on the list then it will impact the tax so we need to really moderate and think about what we’re doing going forward. I would also suggest what’s on this list is not necessarily everything that might come forward especially after the budget meeting tomorrow.”
Hunter says if you have any thoughts about supplemental items or any of the eleven things on the list, the city wants your feedback.
