Staff in Logan Lake say they are pleasantly surprised by usage at the municipal campground last year.
CAO Randy Lambright says the money the campground brought in last year was double what it was just three years earlier.
“I think our revenues in 2019 were close to about $160,000, $170,000, somewhere in that range. And then the previous year I think we were at about $120,000, somewhere in there. So we saw a really good increase, so that’s good. And we hope that continues.”
Long-term, Lambright says the District expects it will look for grant funding for future upgrades and improvements.
“There’s a fair bit that needs to be done out there, based on some of the comments that have been made by some of the campers. And they’re generally all very happy with their experience, but there’s always things we can work on. Whether it’s revitalizing existing spaces, or extending water here, putting a playground over there, that type of thing.”
In a report brought to District’s tourism committee, staff estimate there could be more than $1.8 million dollars spent long-term, on upgrades and additions to the campground.
“Logan Lake’s campground has substantial opportunities for conversion into a one-of-a-kind pristine campground, which, in turn, if marketed correctly after the first few years of improvements, would increase bookings to maximum capacity,” the report says.
