It appears there is a ride-sharing company with concrete plans to come to Kamloops – if it gets approved for a license here.
Business license inspector Dave Jones didn’t name the company because it is waiting for a decision from the Passenger Transportation Board.
But he says the company has said there’s a lot of interest from potential drivers.
“It’s interesting that someone has recognized that Kamloops is a big enough community to provincially operate, and obviously make some money. It’s my understanding that the platform operation of the business would be based in the Lower Mainland, but we would still have the operators operating in Kamloops.”
Jones points out this company is different than Kabu Ride, which has a ride-sharing license for Region 4 and says it hopes to come to Kamloops if it can hire drivers.
Region 4 includes, Kamloops, the Okanagan, Cariboo and Kootenay regions, meaning a company approved to operate in Kamloops may not necessarily have plans to come here.
