This year’s Kamloops Y Dream Home is just about ready to be moved into.
The 3,000-square-foot home in Orchards Walk will be sold to the Kamloops Y later this month, and it’s been issued an occupancy permit.
“It’s a pretty high-spec house inside also, with the granite counter tops, hardwood floors, stone fireplaces and mantles. We’ve done some pretty good finishes on the home,” vice president of operations Jere Lorenz says.
He says the new neighborhood in Valleyview will have 894 units, between single-family homes, duplexes, townhomes, condos and apartments. It’s on 35 acres and will be completely finished in five years, according to Lorenz.
“And that includes the Orchards Walk community centre we just finished building. And it’ll be opened up to the Orchards Walk community within a month. We’re just working on the final details of the strata rules on it, and it’s a 5,000-square-foot community centre.”
Lorenz says the subdivision is proud to partner with the Y, and says Thompson Rivers University trades students were also able to get real-life experience in helping to build the home.
