A man is in hospital in critical condition after being hit by a train near Ashcroft.

The man was on foot when he was hit on the CP Rail line just before 12:45 p.m. this afternoon, about 10 kilometres south of Ashcroft.

“All evidence suggest that this is a tragic accident. The man has received some serious injuries, he’s listed in critical condition and has been Medi-Vac’d (sic) to hospital,” RCMP Cpl. Madonna Saunderson says. “All evidence suggests that this man may have been enjoying a day of fishing when this happened.”

Saunderson did not give any further detail on the situation.

She says police are still at the scene investigating.
