A new dog park in Kamloops at the corner of Aviation Way and Tranquille Road is now open.
City of Kamloops Civic Operations Director, Jen Fretz, says benches, fencing, and dog waste bag dispensers have all been installed at the park.
“There are a few items that will be finished as weather permits, including lighting and water fountains,” she said. “Final turf work will also come later this spring.”
Trans Mountain built the dog park at a cost of $170,000 because construction on the pipeline will impact the Ord Road dog park.
Fretz says the existing Ord Road dog park will close on March 23, as the Trans Mountain project gets underway.
“Once the pipeline project is complete, the dog park will be restored and reopened to the public, and the new dog park on Aviation Way will also remain open,” she added.
The investment in the dog park is in addition to Trans Mountain’s Community Benefits Agreement signed with the City of Kamloops in 2015, which is a one-time payout of $700,000.
