Amidst many shutdowns and event cancellations, Aberdeen Mall is staying open for now, amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mall staff say they are monitoring the latest information released by Health Canada.
“The safety of our guests and employees is always our priority,” read a facebook post.
“We are frequently sanitizing all high-traffic touchpoints throughout the day and have increased cleaning protocol throughout the centre.”
As well, the mall is suspending the use of courtesy strollers, wheelchairs, walkers, and scooters from Guest Services. The use of trays in the food court has also been suspended.
“All special events have also been postponed and/or cancelled, including the upcoming Benjamin Circus (April 2-4) & West Coast Amusements (April 16-19),” added the post from the mall.
The B.C. government has formally banned gatherings of over 250 people in a bid to spread the virus.
While daily life hasn’t been suspended, people are asked to stay home if they are feeling sick, and to wash your hands frequently with soap and water.
Mall staff say there will be further updates as necessary.
