Three more COVID-19 deaths and 30 more cases have been reported over the weekend in B.C. by health officials.
Provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says those deaths are connected to the Lynn Valley Care Centre in North Vancouver, a seniors home that has seen an outbreak of cases.
Officials did not have details of the identity of three new deaths, but says all were residents. All four COVID-19 deaths in Canada have been residents of the Lynn Valley Care Centre.
Henry says the 30 news cases are spread through Vancouver Coastal Health, Fraser Health, Island Health and Interior Health, but has not yet specified how many cases are in each health authority. The news, however, means there are now at least three COVID-19 cases in the Interior Health region.
Meanwhile, Henry has announced a ban on public gatherings with 50 or more people for the foreseeable future, and has forced all casinos in B.C. to close by midnight tonight. That would include Cascades Casino in Aberdeen and Chances Casino on the North Shore.
Health Minister Adrian Dix also says a formal announcement on public schools in the province will come forward tomorrow.
