A Kamloops soccer player is taking her game to the bright lights of Las Vegas.
Sophia Seibel, formerly of the Kamloops Youth Soccer Association and Thompson Okanagan FC, has accepted a Division One scholarship to the University of Nevada Las Vegas – UNLV.
It’s as she was being recruited by a few schools.
“They just made it so easy. It was a great set-up,” she said. “I did weigh the pros and cons of the other places, but in my heart of hearts, I knew it’s where I wanted to be.”
Seibel has been with Vancouver Whitecap Resident Program in Burnaby since her Grade 10 year. She suffered a severe ACL knee injury which kept her out of game action for nearly two years.
She says her ultimate goal would be to play for Canada’s National Women’s Program.
“That would be amazing yes, It’s what I’ve always most wanted. I would say that’s my end goal.”
Seibel will report to Las Vegas in late July.
