One man was airlifted to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a single vehicle crash on the Coquihalla this morning, about 30 minutes south of Merritt.
BC RCMP Traffic Spokesperson Cpl. Mike Halskov says a pickup truck and trailer with two men inside rolled over, just before 9 a.m. He says one of the two men was able to free himself, and is believed to have suffered non-life threatening injuries.
“The other occupant was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated,” Halskov said. “He was airlifted to hospital with injuries believed to be non life threatening as well.”
Details are limited at this time, but Halskov says road and weather conditions were quite poor at the time.
“It can be challenging for an ambulance to navigate the poor road and weather conditions to get to the scene of the crash,” he added. “Sometimes its just quicker to do it by air, and better for any victims of these crashes too because it gets them to care sooner.”
The highway has reopened, and the crash, Halskov says, is being investigated by the Merritt RCMP.
