
The TRU Wolfpack have crowned the top athletes and those who excel in the classroom and in the community this year.
The Male Athlete of the Year went to men’s soccer star Jan Pirretas Glasmacher, of Barcelona, Spain. The Female Athlete of the Year was volleyball player Kendra Finch, who also picked up the Cliff Neufeld Leadership Athlete of the year – the second straight year she’s won the leadership award.
Men’s basketball player Michael Roualt was also a double award winner. The fifth-year guard won the Cliff Neufeld Leadership Award for the third consecutive year, and also claimed the Dr. Barnsley Scholar Athlete Award, for the second time in a row.
Women’s volleyball player Olga Savenchuk was also a winner of the Dr. Barnsley Scholar Athlete Award.
A pair of international volleyball players – Nimo Benne, from Castricum, Netherlands, and Ksenya Kociygit, from Byaroza, Belarus – won award as the best newcomers to the TRU Wolfpack.
The ‘Director’s Award’ – given to an athlete who has left a mark in their five years as an athlete in the community and in the classroom – was given to women’s soccer co-captain Natalie Verdiel.
Outgoing Cross-Country Coach Carmin Mazzotta was also a double winner, taking home the ‘Tyler Lowey Comeback Award’ as well as the TRU WolfPack Appreciation Award.
