UPDATED:
BC Emergency Health Services says four people have been taken to hospital after a crash this morning on Mamit Lake Road, just outside of Logan Lake.
BCEHS says one of those people is in critical condition after the crash that happened just before 8:30 a.m., near Foley Road on Highway 97C, which was closed down for about four hours.
Sources tell NL News the crash involved a semi-truck and a pick-up truck. Snow was coming down heavily at the time of the crash.
BC RCMP Traffic Spokesperson Cpl. Mike Halskov says a teenage girl was among those taken to hospital with life threatening injuries, while two adults in the pick up suffered non-life threatening injuries. The semi truck driver was not injured.
Police believe poor weather and road conditions were a primary contributing factor for the crash, as Halskov says impairment and distracted driving are not being considered.
There were several other crashes this morning in the southern Interior that forced highways to be closed down. Highway 1 was closed for about three hours at Griffin Lake, between Revelstoke and Sicamous, because of a crash.
Also, the Coquihalla was closed southbound for about six hours early this morning at the Great Bear Snowshed, north of Hope, because of a semi-truck crash.
As of 2 p.m. today, a snowfall warning is still in place for the Coquihalla from Hope to Merritt, with snow expected to keep falling until this evening. Since late last night, 28 centimetres of snow has fallen at the Coquihalla Summit, a span of about 16 hours.
