BC RCMP are investigating a fire in Cache Creek that destroyed a pair of homes yesterday morning.
Southeast District RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says the cause of the fire hasn’t yet been determined, but it is believed to be suspicious in nature. He says Ashcroft RCMP were asked to help the Cache Creek volunteer fire department respond to the blaze at 4:41 a.m. yesterday.
One of the two homes destroyed was abandoned after it flooded in 2015. The second home that was destroyed belonged to the owner’s of Anie’s Pizza in Cache Creek. It’s not yet known where the fire broke out.
There were no injuries, but a dog was killed according to a GoFundMe that is hoping to raise $10,000 for the family.
“As being one of the first on scene I knew they only got out with the cloths on [their] back,” said organizer Robert Stanhope. “Nothing from in the house.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ashcroft RCMP detachment.
