Kamloops RCMP say a 33-year-old man is in custody after he allegedly attempted to break into a commercial storage unit early this morning.
Police say they were notified about a suspicious person lurking near a storage container in the Versatile Drive area.
“When a frontline officer arrived, he did not see anyone in the immediate vicinity but saw that the lock on the storage shed had been tampered with,” said RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie.
Shelkie says the police dog team was able to find the man hiding on the hillside near Costco.
“This man was found to have break and enter tools in his backpack and to be breaching his probation,” added Shelkie. “He was arrested and will be going before a Justice of the Peace.”
“We are grateful to the citizen who called in this suspicious occurrence. Because he took the time to call the police when he saw something that wasn’t quite right, officers were able to successfully locate and arrest the suspect.”
