Mounties say a weapons complaint that forced the Halston Bridge to be closed last night has been deemed unfounded.
Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says the Kamloops Rural RCMP detachment was called to a reported hostage situation at 7 p.m., at a home in the 1200-block on Kootenay Way.
That call led to the nearby Halston Bridge being shut down, as well as several homes being evacuated.
The Southeast District Emergency Response Team was also called in from the Okanagan to assist.
The ERT later found the home to be empty, however, where the scene was said to be unfolding.
“This investigation is now closed. Police believe the complainant was experiencing delusions and no further actions will be taken,” Shelkie tells NL News.
The scene was cleared at about 10:30 p.m.
