As Saskatchewan aims to start opening up its economy in the coming weeks, BC is paying attention, but it is on its own timeline.
Speaking on The Jeff Andreas Show, BC Health Minister Adrian Dix says it is constantly looking elsewhere in the world to gauge how it will move forward.
“We are constantly looking at other jurisdictions from Korea to Hubei province in China to Italy to other things to guide our decision and that’s true in this case. Saskatchewan has a different circumstance.”
Dix says there will be some provinces ahead of us and some behind us and adds that he will be back in a couple of weeks with more modelling to look at where BC is in its ability start easing restrictions.
“Saskatchewan has had quite a bit fewer cases. So if we had their circumstances, you might see us acting as they are right now.”
As of Thursday, April 23 Saskatchewan has recorded 331 total cases and Dix says if BC had similar numbers we might be seeing similar action, but that’s just not the case. BC is reporting 1,824 total confirmed cases and 1,092 people have fully recovered.
