
BC Transit busses will stay free in Kamloops and across the province until at least May 31.
That’s as restrictions remain in place to limit public contacts during this pandemic.
And people on disability assistance with a bus pass will continue to have $52 dollars added to their cheques, for each month that busses are free.
Minister of Poverty Reduction Shane Simpson shared that news earlier this month, while announcing a $300-dollar subsidy for low-income residents for April, May and June.
“A large part of the work in developing the $5-billion-dollar initiative to support British Columbians, it’s really about looking at what the federal government is doing, how federal programs are being developed, and then working to make our provincial programs as complementary as possible.”
People will also continue to load busses from the back doors to steer clear of drivers.
