The Kamloops Blazers have signed Kaden Hammell, their first round pick from last month’s WHL Bantam Draft, to a WHL standard player agreement.
“We are excited that Kaden and his family have committed to the Kamloops Blazers organization,” General Manager, Matt Bardsley, told NL Sports. “He has an excellent combination of skating, skill, hockey sense and compete along with a strong presence which will be a great addition to our organization,” said Bardsley.
Hammell was drafted 19th overall by the Blazers on April 22.
“I am very happy to be a part of such a great organization, and I’m looking forward to being a Blazer,” Hammell said.
The six-foot tall right shot defenseman played the 2019-20 season with the West Vancouver Bantam Prep team in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League. He put up 41 points (12 goals and 29 assists) in 29 games, and was third overall in defensemen scoring in the CSSHL.
The Langley native is the first player drafted in 2020 to sign with the Blazers.
