The province is easing restrictions with the reopening of several businesses next week and a downtown business leader says there’s still a lot of questions to be answered.
Small businesses are taking a double hit with having no incoming money but having to fork out cash for personal protection equipment.
Kamloops Central Business Improvement Association, Executive Director, Carl DeSantis was on NL Newsday and said business owners are feeling a wide range of emotions. “Anxiety, slash excitement, slash uncertainty and the uncertainty is about what that future’s going to look like and what the expectations are on them as business leaders so that we can get across the threshold and reopen to the community.”
He says there’s hope the province can help with the expense. “There a lot of validity in the PPE and I don’t know specifically where this will go from here but it’s a conversation I’ve had with many of our business leaders downtown about what the expectations are.”
“Ya, we look forward to seeing that but there’s a lot of questions about what’s going to happen then and who is required to pick up the tab for what.
DeSantis says KCBIA board members will be meeting with local MLA’s this week and the topic will be on the agenda now that it’s been brought to the forefront.
