The Customer Care and Patrol Team in downtown Kamloops will have new responsibilities this summer because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kamloops Central Business Improvement executive director Carl Desantis was speaking to city council and acknowledged that there will be a lot fewer tourists and no events, which the CAP Team usually is heavily involved with.
“One of the responsibilities that we’re looking to introduce to the CAP Team is marketing and communications support. Coming out of the pandemic as we transition from phase two, and then hopefully phase three and four in the next several months, that’s going to be an incredibly important responsibility to showcase downtown and get people back down here.”
Desantis says the CAP Team will also have many opportunities to engage businesses, and also to work with vulnerable people in the downtown core.
“And I see enhanced support going that way, whether it be the back alley patrols, the parks throughout the downtown community to provide the necessary supports,” Desantis says.
