Kamloops swimmer Sarah Koopmans will be rolling the dice in Las Vegas in the fall.
She has accepted a swimming scholarship to the University of Nevada Las Vegas. She will join her Kamloops friend Sophia Seibel who will attend on a soccer scholarship announced earlier this spring.
“That same week Sophia signed, they reached out to me as well,” Koopmans told NL Sports. “We just started talking and doing some video calls. I soon realized it was really nice there and they offered me a really good scholarship.”
Koopmans plans to be in Vegas on August 18th for orientation and is fully expecting there will be on-campus classes despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I just want to improve on my times and have a really good first year experience,” Koopmans added.
The 17 year-old has been swimming with the Kamloops Classics swim club for the past 10 years.
