Playground structures and outdoor fitness equipment will reopen in the city of Kamloop, starting today.
It includes outdoor playgrounds located in municipal parks and at Kamloops’ public schools, which have been closed since mid-March.
City staff will be removing signs and caution tape and people are asked to avoid using these spaces until that material has been removed. However, staff say playgrounds will not be cleaned and that residents are using the park at their own risk.
For now, water parks and splash pads will remain closed at this time.
A statement from the city encourages residents to exercise caution when visiting local playgrounds and to continue to follow provincial health guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by:
- washing and/or sanitizing hands before and after visiting playgrounds
- maintaining a physical distance and avoiding gatherings
- staying home if you feel unwell
Information regarding water parks and indoor recreation facility reopening plans will be provided in the near future. Each facility has unique considerations to ensure staff’s and patrons’ safety.
