A long-awaited upgrade to Barnhartvale Road is planned to start next week.
Repair work will be happening from Dallas Drive to Tod Road, at a cost of $1.25 million.
Capital projects manager Darren Crundwell says the majority of the work will be repaving the roadway, with other repairs and improvements.
“We did have a couple water main breaks. I don’t have all the details, but there was more than one in the area. So that’s the reason why you’re seeing the road removed in some of the areas a little worse than others… We dig all the road structure out and reconstruct it. So we’ll be doing that in a few areas. There’s some minor drainage improvements and repairs, but the majority of the work is the asphalt. Grinding and resurfacing,” he says.
“But the whole road has been deteriorating, it’s been on our renewal list for a number of years. Just getting out there this year, we know it’s important. We know it’s in very poor shape.”
Crundwell says the work should be done by the end of July.
