Expect most hotels in Sun Peaks to be open within the next month.
Sun Peaks Resort chief marketing officer Aidan Kelly says hotels are going through a phased approach for reopening.
“We’re getting a bunch of inquiries already in terms of people that are looking for sort of that staycation, or the close-to-home, or people in the Lower Mainland who just want to drive a couple hours where they’re not going too far. So the hotels will be open, and the whole range of accommodation opens in the resort.”
Kelly says Sun Peaks hopes to be an outlet for people during the pandemic, saying it’s relatively safe right now to do outdoor recreational activities.
“Obviously different protocols in place to keep everyone as safe as possible during these wild times. But it’s all looking relatively promising, and we think we can play a strong part in giving people a bit of an outlet. Outdoor recreation is seen as pretty safe.”
The Sun Peaks Golf Course reopens on June 26 to the public, and hiking trails and the bike park are reopening to the public on June 29.
