The city’s Chief Administrative Officer was taken to hospital today during a city council meeting.
David Trawin was in the process of speaking to items under the CAO Report at 2:10 p.m. when he collapsed at the table.
He was taken by ambulance to Royal Inland Hospital, as seen by NL News outside of city hall. He appeared to be alert and speaking with paramedics while being transported from council chambers.
City of Kamloops Communication Manager Wendy Heshka says the city is not expected to release a statement today on Trawin’s condition.
The council meeting reconvened about 45 minutes later after the medical emergency, and Community and Protective Services director Byron McCorkell took over the CAO report when council resumed.
Speaking afterwards to NL News, mayor Ken Christian did not mention Trawin by name, but commented on the situation when asked.
“It was a very scary situation, a member of our staff had a medical emergency. We had to deliver first aid… I don’t have an update on the condition,” Christian says.
