The Thompson Nicola Regional District’s Civic building downtown has reopened to the public by appointment only, with new protocols and safety plans in place.
TNRD offices, like many other public facilities were closed on March 18 once a provincial state of emergency was declared because of COVID-19.
People are asked to call either 250-377-8673 or 1-877-377-8673 to book an appointment. Appointments may be booked for hour-hour time slots, though people are still encouraged to contact the TNRD by phone and email as much as possible.
As well, libraries will offer free WiFi within the vicinity of the building, while people wanting new books and other materials will be able to access the takeout service at all branches.
TNRD landfills and eco-depots meanwhile are taking regularly accepted waste and recyclables, including yard waste. Community parks have reopened, while people can now make bookings at community halls with capacity limits in place.
“The TNRD greatly appreciates the patience, courtesy and caring that has been shown by our residents during this time,” CAO Randy Diehl said in a statement.
“We hope this consideration will continue as we gradually restore full service operations, which will proceed based on the advice of BC’s Provincial Health Officer.”
