Nearly all of the city’s recreation facilities will be open as of Monday.
Mayor Ken Christian says the city is reopening the gyms at the Tournament Capital Centre, the Brock Pool and the Prince Charles Park wading pool.
“It’s not going to be the way it was,” Christian says, when speaking about limits to capacity at local pools because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The change rooms and water fountains at the gym facilities in the TCC will also be closed because of pandemic safety protocols.
The Canada Games Pool and Westsyde Pool will be closed through the summer because of renovations.
Almost all sports fields and rinks also will be open for bookings as of next week, including the Tournament Capital Ranch, Charles Anderson Stadium, McArthur Island, Exhibition Park, Rae-Mor Park and others.
Meanwhile, Christian says the beach at Riverside Park will also reopen once flood barriers are removed, and there will be a lifeguard on duty seven days a week.
Also, as of Friday, the Barnhartvale Landfill, Landfill Diversion Area and the Yard Waste Site will reopen, the city announced today.
