B.C.’s police watchdog is investigating after a man was shot and injured by Kamloops RCMP with a less-lethal gun during a standoff last night, at a home in Brock.
Police were called to a home in the 1000-block of Newton Street at 10:45 p.m., to a report of a man chasing a woman with a weapon, believed to be a gun.
A woman came out of the home after Mounties set up a containment area and a man later came outside.
Police say he refused to follow instructions, and say he was injured after an officer fired a “less-lethal” shotgun, which fires w beanbag-like material.
He was taken into custody and then transported to hospital.
It’s now been determined the allegations of the suspect having a firearm were not true, and police are now investigating a potential case of mischief.
The Independent Investigations Office is looking into the incident.
