As we navigate the first weekend under Phase 3 of B.C.’s COVID-19 restart plan, the health minister is reminding people to be careful if you’re out travelling or expanding your bubble.
“It is much easier when one is spending most of their time at home to stay isolated from other people,” said Adrian Dix.
“As we go out in the world, we have to be more conscious of physical distancing, more conscious of not going out in the world if we are not feeling well, more conscious of all of the things that stopped transmission.”
He says one only needs to look at the spike in COVID-19 cases in the United States as an example of why people in the province need to be more careful.
“We know when we are not conscious that has consequences for everyone,” he added. “We are in British Columbia, in a world situation which is not been in the last two weeks very positive for COVID-19.”
“Let us recommit to being 100 per cent all-in in this new phase of COVID-19 in B.C., understanding that people around the world are struggling with this, and what we should see from that is not to compare ourselves with them, but to understand what we need to continue to do to success in British Columbia.”
As always those precautions include physical distancing from each other, washing your hands with soap and water, and as always, staying home if you are sick.
Dix made a similar plea ahead of the first weekend of Phase 2 back in May, and thanked people the following Monday for helping the province to a strong start of Phase 2 of its restart plan.
