Police say the driver of a McLaren likely hydroplaned before rolling multiple times on the Coquihalla near Merritt yesterday.
Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says the vehicle was a 2015 McLaren 650S, and the crash happened in the northbound lanes near Larson Hill at about 4 p.m.
O’Donaghey says the driver lost control and hit the back of a semi-truck, before rolling several times and crashing into the centre median.
The driver was a man from the Kelowna area in his 40s, who climbed out of the wreckage under his own strength. He was taken to hospital by another driver who stopped at the scene.
That model McLaren is valued at about $360,000 Canadian, according to fair market value assessments online.
Mounties are asking for any witnesses to reach out to Merritt RCMP, at 250-378-4262.
