Scott Hildebrand will be the new Chief Administrative Officer at the Thompson-Nicola Regional District effective August 17.
Hildebrand is currently CAO in Merritt, a position he has been in since April 2019, after spending six years as the CAO for the city of Brandon, Manitoba. He has lived in Kamloops for the last four years, and would commute to Merritt.
“The field of candidates during the recruitment process was one of the most competitive I have ever seen,” Interim CAO Randy Diehl said in a statment. “Scott comes to us with an extensive private and public sector background, and the Board and I are extremely pleased with the experience and skills he brings to the position.”
Outside of government, Hildebrand has fourteen years of experience as a Regional Zone Sales Manager for Frito Lay Canada (PepsiCo) and four years as Vice President and General Manager for McKenzie Seeds/Jiffy Canada.
“I am very excited about this opportunity with the Thompson-Nicola Regional District,” he said in a statement. “In my role as CAO with the City of Merritt, I have become very familiar with the TNRD and look forward to engaging with the Board, staff, residents, and the business community throughout the region.”
“There will be challenges, but together I feel that we can build on the district’s success to date, and positively shape the future for the Thompson-Nicola region.”
As CAO, Scott will be responsible for managing administrative operations of the TNRD, the implementation of policies and directions of the Board, as well as advising the Board on the operation and affairs of the regional district.
“Members of the Board and staff look forward to welcoming Mr. Hildebrand to the TNRD,” Board Chair Ken Gillis noted. “We have been incredibly honoured to have Randy Diehl as Interim CAO and would like to thank him for his stellar leadership and commitment through these unprecedented times.”
Hildebrand replaces Sukh Gill, who was forced to retire in February with a payout of more than $500,000.
