A Kamloops woman is $675,000 richer after scratching three identical cash symbols on her Set for Life ticket, according to a release from the British Columbia Lottery Corporation.
“I turned to [my boyfriend] and said, ‘I think I won,'” Angela Gardner said, noting she was listening to the radio and enjoying her Saturday morning coffee at the same time. “We checked the ticket on his Lotto! app. I called BCLC to see if this was real. I was in complete shock.”
Gardner plans to use her winnings to travel and make improvements to her home.
“I’ve always wanted to have a swimming pool, and this will help make this a reality,” she added, noting the money will also help her plan for her retirement.
She was getting ready for a visit to Vancouver Island, and says she hasn’t had time to celebrate yet.
“A few people have said I should buy a bottle of Champagne,” Gardner said. “We will probably have a family dinner.”
BCLC says Gardner bought her ticket at McGoo’s Smokes N Stuff at the Northills Shopping Centre in Kamloops, and claimed her prize using BCLC’s alternate prize-claim process.
