The BC Government through Emergency Management B.C. says there is money available for people affected by flooding earlier this year in Kamloops and parts of the Thompson Nicola Regional District.
The Disaster Financial Assistance can be accessed by people – including First Nations and municipalities – impacted by overland flooding between April 20 and July 7 in four areas – the city of Kamloops and Electoral Areas E, I and J in the TNRD, that’s areas around Clinton, 70 Mile House, Ashcroft, Cache Creek as well as Savona and Cherry Creek.
Money is meant for homeowners, tenants, farmers, small business owners, charitable organizations and local governments who were unable to get insurance to cover losses brought on by flooding.
Applications can be submitted for damage between $1,000 and $300,000, with the stipulation that seasonal or recreational properties, hot tubs, patios, pools, garden tools, luxury items like fur coats and collectibles and bicycles are not eligible for coverage.
The deadline to apply is November 3. For more information, click here.
