B.C.’s Jobs Minister says more part-time jobs are being restored than full time jobs, as the province gained 70,200 total jobs in July.
Speaking to NL News, Michelle Mungall says many businesses are not at full speed as they bring back workers.
“That’s why we’re seeing a lot of part time jobs come online, because that reflects a lot of jobs that had been full time starting back up at a part-time rate. What we want to do is make sure we’re continuing on with reducing the spread of COVID-19, opening back our economy – surely and safely – so that those jobs can move back to full time.”
The unemployment rate in B.C. sits at 11.1 per cent, and for Kamloops that rate is 11.3 per cent.
The Thompson-Okanagan as a whole has an unemployment rate of 12.4 per cent.
