We are starting to see some numbers now based on a resurgence in golf in the Kamloops area this year.
Despite a slow start to the season because of COVID-19, which led to some courses shutting down temporarily, Tourism Kamloops CEO Beverley DeSantis says business is now booming.
“With strong recovery marketing campaigns, a strong digital presence and two years of brand development, we’ve been able recoup virtually all of the lost business and are currently seeing a 60 per cent year to date growth over 2019,” she said.
DeSantis made those comments to Kamloops City Council in her annual update on Tuesday.
Back in April, BC Golf had recommended that courses be closed to contain the spread of COVID-19. Many courses then brought in COVID-19 safety plans including social distancing protocols and then reopened.
There has not been a document outbreak of the virus at any BC golf course.
