Chase RCMP are still looking for witnesses after a motorcyclist was taken to hospital with critical injuries following a crash with a white Ford Explorer earlier this month.
The crash happened around 3:15 a.m. on August 20, about 15 minutes after reports that a man was shot near the Squilax-Anglemont Road. He was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and police believe the two incidents may be linked.
RCMP Traffic Spokesperson Cpl. Mike Halskov says police are hoping to talk to the driver of the damaged Ford Explorer, noting this person may not have caused the crash and offered help at the scene.
“The motorcyclist may have been in the wrong lane. You can see from the damage on the vehicle that its on the driver’s side front of the Ford Explorer, indicating its sort of an offset head-on type collision,” he said. ”
“It does not appear at this time that the driver of the Ford Explorer caused the crash, it was just at the wrong place at the wrong time.”
He was asked about possible charges that the driver of the Ford may face.
“We’d like to identify this individual and speak with them obviously to find out what exactly happened and based on the outcome of those conversations, we’ll determine what happens from there,” added Halskov, noting police also want to talk to the occupants of a second, dark vehicle that stopped briefly at the scene, before driving away with the hazard lights on.
If you have any information about the crash, you’re asked to reach out to the Central Interior Traffic Services in Kamloops at 250-828-3111 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
