Police shut down a large, unlicensed outdoor grow-op in the Fraser Canyon last weekend.
Sgt. Curtis Davis with Lytton RCMP says police seized more than 5,2000 cannabis plants from a rural property near the village on Saturday.
The bust happened after an RCMP helicopter flew over the property last Friday.
Davis says police waited a day to return to the grow-op site by helicopter, saying that a site like that is “typically staged with booby traps meant to injure or kill unsuspecting visitors or first responders.”
It’s not clear who was growing the plants, and it doesn’t appear any arrests have been made yet in connection to the seizure.
Anyone with information about the grow-op is asked to called Lytton RCMP at 250-455-2225.
