If parents in Kamloops want to keep their kids at home this school year, they won’t lose their spot in most cases, according to the Kamloops-Thompson School District.
Board chair Rhonda Kershaw says that was acknowledged at Monday night’s board meeting, as some parents worry about COVID-19.
“A lot of the concern is around what happens if they don’t return to their school right away. So we stated very clearly that for those students who are in schools of choice, or who are in schools that are maybe a little fuller, if they choose not to return right away and they delay their return we are going to hold their spots,” she said.
“So I think that will really alleviate some fears.”
Kershaw says principals have been reaching out to parents this week, and teachers will be reaching out next week.
She says principals are available, if parents want to bring forward any concerns or questions.
