The president of the Kamloops-based Kelson Group is passing on the reins, after more than 40 years in the role.
The company has announced today founder Ron Fawcett is transitioning out of the role as president and being replaced by his son, Jason Fawcett.
Until now, Jason was the company’s vice president of operations, a position he held since 1999.
Ron says Jason and his other son Kelly Fawcett, who is the vice president of maintenance and construction with the Kelson Group, have been leading the company for years.
“I view this announcement as not only the reality of what our company structure has looked like for quite some time, but this change will enable Jason and Kelly to lead the evolution of the Kelson Group as we grow,” Ron says.
At 80 years old, Ron is not retiring; he now has become the company’s executive director. The Kelson Group says this will give him more time for “new construction projects the company is planning to develop.”
Jason says his father has always been a visionary.
“He really is the reason Kelson Group is here, and why it has seen continued success. I am honoured to take on this role and to help lead the exceptional work our company does.”
Meanwhile, Kelly says the change in leadership announced today has been in the works for several years.
“Both Jason and I are looking forward to working together to ensure the legacy of the company is one of caring for community, doing all we can to provide housing for our residents, and looking for opportunities to grow.”
The family-owned Kelson Group manages 25 rental buildings in Kamloops and 70 across cities in B.C. and Alberta.
Most recently, the company opened a 77-unit rental apartment called Legacy Square, located at “The Reach” on the Thompson Rivers University campus. It’s also building another rental apartment in that complex with 42 units, as well as a 40-unit condo in that complex which will be the company’s first for-sale building.
Kelson Group also has “big plans” for another development in Kamloops, which Jason told NL News earlier this year will be a multi-family rental development located downtown. Full details are expected to come out soon.
