There won’t be a Trick or Treat Train, Ghost Train or Christmas Train this season as the Kamloops Heritage Railway Society has cancelled the rest of its 2020 season.
“Our ‘on-rail’ experience falls under Phase IV of the BC Restart plan which requires a vaccine or effective treatment,” said Executive Director Cory Clark. “Neither of these are expected in enough time to ensure a safe experience this season. KHR will always err on the side of caution when people’s health and safety are potentially at risk.”
He says they’re still hoping to operate in a reduced capacity by finalizing a Backshop Tour experience, which will allow the Society to host smaller groups.
“We hope to have this experience available very soon, please check our website and Facebook page for more details,” Clark added.
“We cannot express the gratitude we have for all of the support and understanding we have received during this very challenging operating season and we all look forward to letting our beautiful engine loose on the rails in 2021.”
Clark says the Kamloops Heritage Railway Society is still accepting donations of wood, building materials, money, and volunteers.
