The Kelson Group is hinting at big plans to redevelop a block of downtown Kamloops.
President Jason Fawcett told NL News in February about plans for a new housing project in downtown Kamloops.
He now tells NL News that the company is talking with city planners about a project along Nicola Street and Battle Street, between 4th and 5th avenues.
“It’s going to be a real big development for Kamloops if we can move forward with it. But we’re going to share those details hopefully within the next few weeks with the public,” Fawcett says.
“And at that time we’ll gauge the excitement, and see how much is rental, and we’re also looking at condos. It’ll be an opportunity for people to own their own home with us. That is still a relatively new venture for us. In the past history, we just don’t sell our buildings. So we’re looking to expand on that opportunity.”
According to BC Assessment, 19 properties in the 400-block of Battle Street and Nicola Street, as well as two properties in the 500-block of 5th Avenue, sold in 2017 for more than $18.6 million.
