A change has been made along a detour route through Brocklehurst, as road work continues nearby on Tranquille Road.
Holt Street is now open for local traffic only, south of Greenfield Avenue.
Capital projects manager Darren Crundwell says this has been done as concerns continue to be heard about people short-cutting the detour route and speeding through neighborhoods.
“The only thing that really seems to help is continued enforcement. And obviously we’re not able to park an RCMP vehicle there everyday during construction. But that is really, for the speeding, it’s all that we’ve seen that’s really helped. We’ve put up more speed readers, speed boards, stuff like that. But it’s an ongoing concern.”
Crews are replacing lines under Tranquille Road, between Southill Street and Singh Street.
Crundwell says the detour route will be modified once work is done on the current phase of the project from Southill to Desmond.
