New data from the BC Centre for Disease Control shows seven new cases in the Kamloops area during the month of August.
The BC CDC says there have been 60 cases in the Kamloops area which includes Sun Peaks, Barriere, Chase, and Logan Lake, up from 53 at the end of July.
Over the month of August, there was one new cases in Merritt, zero in Salmon Arm (still at 7), Lillooet (still at 0), and in the North Thompson (still at 0 as well).
Further away, there have been 239 cases in the Kelowna area (up by 30), and 23 in Vernon (up by 2). In the Cariboo-Chilcotin, there were five cases at the end of August (up by 2) and seven cases in the South Cariboo (up by 2 as well.)
“The map tells us things that we know. That virtually every part of our province has been touched by COVID-19,” said Dr. Bonnie Henry, while releasing the first round of data at the end of August. “Communities large and small and geographically dispersed. But despite this spread, we must continue to find our balance and understand how we can continue to live with COVID-19.”
As the province prepares for an October election, it announced 366 new cases of the virus over the past weekend, for a total of 8,208 cases – 508 in the Interior Health Authority.
