A Kamloops nightclub says it will be closed for the rest of the year with no plans to reopen.
Management at the Cactus Jacks Nightclub made the announcement this afternoon in a facebook post.
“We have decided to permanently close CJ’s with no plans of reopening in 2020,” the post said. “Thank you Kamloops for all of your support and patronage.”
The club – owned by former Blazer Jordan Landry – reopened last month with new COVID-19 restrictions in place, but it had to shut down again after Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, ordered all nightclubs and banquet halls to close earlier this month because of the increasing number of cases.
The owner of the nearby Blue Grotto – Pup Johnston – told NL News that like the owners of CJ’s, they brought in a number of health and safety measures in the hopes of reopening before the order to close came after the Labour Day weekend.
CJ’s was scheduled to host Madchild, a Juno-award winning rapper and a member of the Vancouver-based hip hop group Swollen Members, on November 5.
