There were 267 new COVID-19 cases in B.C. in the past three days, as well as three more deaths from the virus.
That includes nine new cases in the Interior Health region.
Hospitalizations have increased to 69 across B.C., including just one person in hospital with the IHA, and the number of people in intensive care has increased to 22.
Active cases have actually dropped from 1,349 on Friday to 1,302 today. There are 3,372 people in isolation who were in direct contact with someone who has the virus.
Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says contact tracing continues to show that events and social gatherings are often the main source of COVID-19 spreading.
“Whether the curve goes up further, stays the same or goes down, relies on us. The best thing we can do, all of us, is to take a step back from our social interactions right now,” Henry says.
“I’m asking you to travel less, to see fewer people, to stay with your household – and your safe six – and connect with others, the other important people in your life, virtually.”
In B.C., there have now been 8,908 reported cases of COVID-19. Of those, 7,346 are now recovered (82 per cent), and there have been 233 total deaths.
