Elementary school students in Lytton will be moving across town by Christmas break.
That’s because a $5-million-dollar expansion to Kumsheen Secondary School is almost done, and it will be able to accommodate kindergarten-to-grade-12 students.
Gold Trail School District board chair Teresa Downs says Lytton Elementary will close once that happens.
“The board will engage in a process of disposal in the years to come. But we do know that there is currently a community user group in the facility, and they have indicated their desire to continue in that facility as long as they can. And we will certainly work to support that.”
Right now there are about 60 students at Kumsheen Secondary and another 60 at Lytton Elementary.
Downs says the newly-expanded Kumsheen School will have room for all of those students and more in the future if needed.
