B.C. has hit a milestone for COVID-19 cases.
There have now been 10,066 reported cases, after 110 new cases were reported today.
Provincial Health Officer Doctor Bonnie Henry says this is a reason for pause, noting that the total case count is an under-representation of how many people have contracted the COVID-19.
“There have been more people, particularly early on when our access to testing was limited, who have been infected with this virus,” Henry says.
“It is a reminder that we know what we need to do, and we need to continue to do it. To slow down, to think about what we’re doing, to make those smart choices everyday. Catching it early, isolating people so it doesn’t spread, keeping our numbers small.”
Of the new cases today, none were in Interior Health which remains at 557 cases of the virus.
There are now 1,394 active cases, 76 people in hospital, while 17 of those people are in intensive care.
There was one new death reported today, in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, and the virus has now killed 245 people in B.C.
